Heroes as Ideals

The essence of the scripting process in transactional analysis can be simply that conflict is resolved by a series of transactions and encounters at levels of experience with others while at work, leisure or interpersonal relationship. The emergence of the quality of those transactions are somewhat dependent upon the levels of which the personal scripting has developed either environmentally or within a defined social institution be it family, school, or the workplace.

The emergence of hero development runs counter to transactions based upon the importance of family and peer development, as well as the quality of personal social development at the level of myth consciousness and self concept. We come to identify with those persons that share a uniqueness of either greatness or pathos that we ascribe to when implementing our personal scripting or seeking certain responses within transactions. An example of this is the beauty ethic applied to daily hygiene routine, even the implications of media pressure on body image and body acceptance.

The Hero Image is one is imagined, fully made aware as fantasy but is only exacted in certain transactions which will garner the greatest opportunities for positive strokes. This can be even evidenced in negative responses as well.

The Hero ideal concept is even further explored in the social context of primitive leadership, being impaled on political leaders, images of social media and entertainment as not only diversion, but a source of derision and criticism. There is an existence of  "crowd mentality" that is heaped upon those in the social order that are leaders, and objects of media focus, even to the level of being worshipped or corporatedly despised. At this level, the intensity of the level of group think and "mob mentality can be created and intensified, instantly making the Hero image the underdog or tragic figure worthy of pity.
